Unisoft is preparing for the new PPWR requirements

As of 12 August 2026, the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies across the European Union, introducing new rules for packaging and packaging waste.

The PPWR aims to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability, minimise the amount of materials used and increase control over substances used in packaging production.

For manufacturers, it also means a stronger focus on material traceability, technical documentation and demonstrating the compliance of finished packaging with PPWR requirements.

What does this mean for Unisoft?

We have already started preparing our processes for the new requirements.

We are organising the documentation for materials used in our production, working with our suppliers of paper, board, inks, varnishes and adhesives, and developing a technical documentation system for the packaging we manufacture.

Our goal is to maintain full control throughout the entire process:

material → supplier documentation → production → quality control → technical documentation → conformity assessment

We see PPWR not as a one-time formal requirement, but as an integral part of product design, purchasing, production and quality control.

This approach will allow us to provide our customers not only with high-quality production, but also with products properly prepared for the new European packaging requirements.
